With my work, I want to depict awakening and a new beginning. The basic shape of the form is like a sprouting plant or a bud covered with raindrops. They embrace a fresh and tender new beginning that will have to fight the harsh world around it. Water is the beginning of life and these drops bring this plant to life. I chose “Petrichor” as the name of the piece because it means the smell of rain. This smell occurs when rain falls on dry ground and a chemical reaction occurs. For me, this scent is usually associated with the awakening of nature, as is my work.
