“Women’s Friendship in Art. A Feminist Perspective” is a practice-based master’s thesis written in the Curatorial Studies programme of the Estonian Academy of Arts. The work consists of two curatorial projects and an accompanying text. The topic of the thesis is female friendship in culture, and in my practice—friendship in contemporary art and curating. The first part of the thesis is divided into two parts: the first dealing with feminist curating from the perspective of a freelance curator, and the second, with the history of the representation of female friendship. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of the process of the following exhibitions: “Greetings, and Whatever Customarily Restores a Bond About to Break” in Kogo Gallery with artists Agnė Jokšė, Anna Trell, Cloe Jancis and Diāna Tamane; and “Beauty in the Belly of the Beast” in Draakon Gallery with artists Maria Izabella Lehtsaar and Sarah Nõmm, co-curated with Anita Kodanik.
