The kind of civilization and society we know today has been built to enslave and repress. Not only ourselves but also the environment around us. This system is kept alive directly by the people who agree to submit to it, and it’s a kind of submission that brings endless amounts of anxiety and discontent to our everyday lives.

One way to undermine the so-called powers that keep us in line is through dance – the development of rave culture that has been going for decades pretty much speaks for itself. Rhythm creates the impulse for a different kind of submission – one that liberates and nourishes the soul. It’s surrendering control as a form of emancipation. In the midst of a system that thrives on individual stagnation, I hand my body over to the beat and let it devour me completely.
