In my thesis I used Systems Oriented Design (SOD) to understand the impact of a new product on the systems that surround it. My work culminated in an extensive Gigamap depicting how a biomass gasification-based decentralized combined heat and power device is intertwined with various societal and natural systems. Based on this I created a system design where the device is integrated into the energy system of a wood products company E. Strauss in a responsible and environmentally friendly way.
